completion of the Pre sea training, a Marine Engineer
goes out to sea and starts his career. To progress in
this profession one must take periodic examinations

To ensure that engineers prepare for these examinations in a systematic manner and ensure no gaps are left, the Director General of Shipping has approved some training institutions to conduct this 3 or 4 month training programme. CIMeT is approved for both the Class 2 and Class 4 preparatory course.
Class 4 Engineer Part A - Preparatory Course - 3 Months (Pre-sea) (DGS approval not required)
Class 4 Engineer Part B - Preparatory Course - 3 Months
Class 2 Engineer Part B - Preparatory Course - 4 Months
